Prevention Pathway
So - you have a child age 3-6 and you want to give them a head start on early literacy skills. We know just what to do!

Intervention Pathway
Learning how to read is not natural. Our brains aren't wired for reading so these skills must be explicitly taught through direct and systematic instruction. This method of reading instruction is called Structured Literacy. It is based on decades of neurobiological research that has proven exactly how the human brain learns to read.
According to the National Assessment of Academic Progress (NAEP), nearly 65% of 4th graders in the United States fail to read at grade-level. If your child struggles to read, know that he/she is not alone.
Unfortunately, it is not likely that your child's school offers Structured Literacy as their primary source of reading instruction. This may be one reason why your child is struggling.
Schools typically rely on packaged curricula such as Wonders, Journeys, H&M, Fountas & Pinnell, etc. to teach reading. These systems are called Balanced Literacy and they have no empirical evidence that support they are effective at teaching children to read.
Approximately 1 in 5 humans are dyslexic even though dyslexia is not recognized as a learning disability in most school systems. Structured Literacy is the only scientifically proven method for teaching reading to individuals with or who are suspected of having dyslexia. .
